Position Summary
The Development Student Worker will report to the Development Operations Coordinator and will support all development projects, including events and giving campaigns. This position is responsible for project research, compiling constituent data, database management, maintaining the University’s endowment records, and serving as an additional point of contact for Development and the NU Foundation regarding donors, alumni, and parents.
Essential Functions
DONOR, ALUMNI, AND PARENT RELATIONS
- Accomplishes goals by working with the Development team for calls, campaigns, and marketing efforts.
- Assist in building effective and ongoing relationships with donors, prospects, parents, and alumni through phone calls, emails, hand-written thank you notes, letters and relationship development.
- Assists with donor, alumni and parent campaigns, specifically as a liaison to other departments including Marketing.
- Assist in creating content for monthly newsletter to alumni and parents.
- Participate and help event implementation each school year such as: President’s Banquet, Homecoming, Alumni events, etc.
- Process Response Reports
- Endowment letter mailings, emails, contacting students and donors to follow through with connecting.
- Gather alumni updates for bi-annual magazine for alumni and donors called Passages.
CRM MANAGEMENT
- Research and compile all constituent data into lists for further relationship development and make all constituent updates in NU’s CRM tool.
- Respond to all alumni and donor requests for information and resources in a timely manner.
- Communication liaison between departments (Campus Ministries, International Students, Marketing, Accounting, etc.), attending corresponding meetings.
- Maintain endowment contracts and files.
- Manage Alumni Association information and constituent data: personal updates, ID cards, monthly birthday postcards, newsletters, and alumni requests.
- Young Alum communication and update information.
ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT
- Serve as support to the Executive Director of the NU Foundation and Department of Development, and the Alumni and Parent Relations Major Gift Officer.
- Coordinate administration for interdepartmental projects and with external vendors.
- Create and implement systems for administrative procedures within the department.
- Track all appeal outcomes/success (team goals and incentives).
- Track donor stories, successful phone calls, donations given.
- Provide research for staff leadership.
OTHER DUTIES
- Maintain professional and organized work or office space.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Skills
- ±¬ÁϹ«Éç student
- MS Office knowledge
- Demonstrate success in social media platforms
- Preferred experience with relational databases
- Ability to conduct a relational telephone conversation, email, or letter with skill and grace
- Ability and desire to represent ±¬ÁϹ«Éç in a positive way
- Disciplined work habits and personal motivation
- Dependable in attendance, follow through and task completion
- Interest in continuing in the position while attending NU strongly preferred
- Must maintain a specified level of productivity with an understanding that the tasks at hand are important to the future of the University
- Must demonstrate an ability to adhere to policy and procedures established by the University
- Demonstrates commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination
- Ability to communicate effectively, getting along well with co-workers, dealing effectively and professionally with colleagues
Time/Availability
20 hours per week required, with moderate scheduling flexibility available to accommodate student schedules and NU event participation.
Working Environment
- Work is generally performed indoors in a typical office setting.
- Occasional weekend/evening work required.
- Position works with strictly confidential information.
- Frequently required to be in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.
Physical Demands
The functions are usually performed while standing, but may involve some amount of time sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting (max. of 40 lbs.), walking, carrying, reaching, stretching, climbing, perform repetitive motions of the hands or wrists and other movements. The abilities of seeing, hearing and speaking are also required.
