Position Summary
The Development Assistant is a Student Worker position designed to provide a ±¬ÁϹ«Éç student the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge in the area of development through data management, events, and administrative tasks necessary to manage ±¬ÁϹ«Éç and the NU Foundation. The Development Assistant will work with the Development Operations Coordinator for data entry and upkeep for needs related to the NU Foundation. In addition, this person will help on the logistics for any NU Foundation hosted events and fundraisers. The position includes setting up and tearing down events. Some evenings and weekends will be required. This is a part-time position of 20 hours a week (possibly up to 40 hours/week in the summer).
Essential Functions
- Assists in coordinating event details and logistics with customers via phone calls, texts, and email correspondence.
- Assists in set up and tear down for events (on and off campus).
- Enters in tasks, meeting notes, updating donor records as needed in NU's current databases. Will produce quality reports to aid in the work of the NU Foundation.
- Trustee administrative needs i.e. minutes, agenda, profiles, Eagle, etc.
- Performs other office administrative duties.
- Provides outstanding customer service to all stakeholders.
Education/Experience/Skills
- Must be a current student at ±¬ÁϹ«Éç.
- Professional correspondence etiquette.
- Exceptional customer service with previous experience preferred.
- Detail oriented: thorough and accurate.
- Computer experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Dependable and reliable.
- Be willing to work with a flexible schedule.
- Self-initiating abilities preferred.
- Previous office experience preferred.
- Demonstrate commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination.
- Ability to communicate effectively, get along well with co-workers, and deal effectively and professionally with colleagues.
- Able to walk up and down stairs and lift at least 40 pounds.
Working Environment
- Requires work in outdoor weather conditions, including wet, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
- Work is mostly performed indoors in a typical office setting.
- Some weekend/evening work required.
- Position works with strictly confidential information.
- Often required to be in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.
Physical Demands
The functions are usually performed while standing, but may involve some amount of time sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting (max. of 40 lbs.), walking, carrying, reaching, stretching, climbing, perform repetitive motions of the hands or wrists and other movements. The abilities of seeing, hearing and speaking are also required.
