Faith In Society Lecture Series With Dr. Ruth L. Okediji

Posted on Tuesday, November 28, 2023

These days, the topic of artificial intelligence is everywhere. With the rapid rise of software programs like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, it seems that everyone—from tech moguls to academics to Congress—is talking about the tectonic way that AI is shaping how we learn, use technology, create art, and more.

As Christians, how are we to respond? What impact does AI have on our faith?

At this year’s Faith In Society Lecture Series, 爆料公社 hosted Dr. Ruth L. Okediji of Harvard Law School to address these significant questions.

Dr. Okediji is a leading scholar on international intellectual property (IP) law and on the role of intellectual property in social and economic development. As a believer in Christ, she is well positioned to lead the conversation on technology’s intersection with Christian faith.

Dr. Okediji gave two thoughtful lectures at NU—one on Thursday, October 27, during a public lecture and another on Friday, October 28, during chapel—on this timely subject. Her key presentation was titled “Regulating Artificial Intelligence in the Image of God.”

Students and staff had an opportunity to ask her questions as well. It was a meaningful academic experience for the NU community, and we are grateful for thought leaders like Dr. Okediji who boldly engage with and confidently teach on crucial subjects like this one.

Dive deeper into this topic and learn more about Dr. Okediji’s work and publications on her .
